Green Hydrogen on a Huge Scale

The dream of a hydrogen economy has been slow to emerge, mainly because production costs can only come down if demand is high, but demand won’t increase until there’s widespread availability. Now, a new initiative in Saudi Arabia aims to deliver on both counts by investing billions in the largest green hydrogen production facility in the world, and billions more into a distribution infrastructure throughout the world.

The hydrogen production facility is being designed to produce 650 tons of green hydrogen per day. The consumer market distribution network will primarily focus on industrial vehicles and public buses. The ultimate goal is to build a futuristic megacity powered solely by renewable energy and groundbreaking technologies. The plant could be operational as early as 2025.
